I snapped a pic of this little house while in Big Bend National Park in West Texas. If you haven't been, the park is a must see. This little house was on our last stop for snacks and gas before hiking Santa Elena Canyon, a truly beautiful spot.

Stylistically, I'm continuing to simplify my landscapes and explore color and contrast, similar to California artists like Diebenkorn, Raimond Staprans and dear friends (also California artists) Sandy Ostrau and Nancy Boyton Hartley. Love how Raimond and Sandy edit their landscapes down to the basic shapes and paint in layers. This is part of my beach series of paintings. Love the umbrellas as always and this solitary umbrella on an open, quiet beach spoke to me. Missing my beach. Will need to go soon.  #contemporaryart #beachseries #oilpaintings

This abstract is part of my beach series as it contains all the colors from my beach series palette. Love the warm muted greens and rusty colors against the light and airy sky colors. Yummy. Looking for it's forever home. ;-)

I recently updated this little guy with a new sky color and think it really livens it up. I painted this from I pic I took in Monterey, CA a few years ago. All good!

I have been admiring some photos I took several years ago at our friends' home on Canyon Lake. I was considering painting a very large abstract from them. But first, thought it best to do a smaller version. I just LOVE what emerged. Using the palette knife and some brush work, adding just the right amount of texture and movement, lights and darks, mixing the perfect shades of colors and knowing when to stop....ahh, I think I may have finally learned a few things. :-) Love it when it comes together so nicely. And now, I'm occasionally adding some environment images. Enjoy!

I started this painting over a year ago and set it aside. I took it to my Sandy Ostrau workshop and added more layers of color and texture. Now I love it. Everybody needs a little coffee time, right?

Here is one of my paintings my week in Carol Marine's advanced workshop in Santa Fe in early October. Carol's lessons included painting white on white, flowers and glass, metal objects and reflections. This is my metal-object painting. More to come!
