I snapped a pic of this little house while in Big Bend National Park in West Texas. If you haven't been, the park is a must see. This little house was on our last stop for snacks and gas before hiking Santa Elena Canyon, a truly beautiful spot.  

Stylistically, I'm continuing to simplify my landscapes and explore color and contrast, similar to California artists like Diebenkorn, Raimond Staprans and dear friends (also California artists) Sandy Ostrau and Nancy Boyton Hartley. Love how Raimond and Sandy edit their landscapes down to the basic shapes and paint in layers. My husband and I recently took a trip to Alaska, including a 3-day land tour and 7-day cruise. One of our cruise days was spent in the glorious Glacier Bay National Park - a water park! We saw two amazing glaciers and other remarkable sights. This was inspired by an image I took near South Marble Island. Think this is part of the north end of South Marble Island but can't be positive. These colors inspired me to use my swirly, thick-paint palette knife technique. Each locale inspires me in different ways. Had a fabulous time in San Francisco last month visiting my talented and beautiful artist friend Nancy Boyton Hartley and husband Brian, seeing the sights, meeting with the charming Alina of Alina B and seeing the fabulous Pierre Bonnard exhibit at the Legion of Honor museum. They wined and dined me to no end!! Here are a few highlights. 

I'll also be a part of WEST - the West Austin Studio Tour starting this weekend. More detail to come on that shortly so stay tuned!!

Finally posting images from our fabulous reception last Saturday (Feb. 7). Thank you Alina B for hosting the lovely art party!! Nancy Boynton Hartley and I exhibited our contemporary oil paintings, and we had contemporary jewelry designs by Irenka Kudlicki and Julia O'Reilly. Lots of sales, champagne and sweet treats. I have 11 paintings in the exhibit, which will be up through May 2 at Alina B in Blackhawk Plaza in Danville, CA (East Bay). My husband "commissioned" me to paint two large works for our entry wall. This is the study for the left diptych panel. Right panel is here. Overall, Jim wants something colorful and dramatic that pops out at you when you walk in the door. So nice he wants my artwork front and center. :-) Soon I will enlarge each panel to 4'x3.' BIG!

I am loving this world of abstracts and exploring new avenues and techniques. Here, I was trying to convey a flurry of activity. Can you feel the movement of the bubbles floating up in sea of color, like schools of exotic fish?
