Lake Austin Winter Morn

Lake Austin Winter Morn  12x12"
Oil on gallery-wrapped canvas / Unframed (no frame needed)
$400 + $40 sh/h in Contiguous US

I've painted this winter scene of Lake Austin before. This time, I used my new abstracted approach working with just a palette knife. Very interesting editing out what seems unimportant and focusing simply on shape, color, composition and value. So much fun!!!

Tropical Pool

Tropical Pool  12x12"
Oil on gallery-wrapped canvas
Unframed:  $400 + $30 sh/h in Contiguous US

I've painted this scene before. I love this pool and hot tub in South Padre. Was exciting to bring my new abstracted approach to the scene, using just a palette knife. No brushes. Woohoo - what freedom!! And I love the thick, juicy paint and simplified visual approach. Very painterly. Feels more vibrant. More abstracted landscapes to come.

Sunny Window

Sunny Window 8x6"
Oil on archival panel unframed
$180 + $15 sh/h in Contiguous US

I recently asked my angels for color inspiration for this "Rothko on steroids" abstract series. This is the second color combo I received - both in one night.  Bright yellow, surrounded by white, surrounded by gray with a hint of purple. (I went heavy on the purple.) I later found out archangel Uriel, whose name means "Light of God," is associated with pale yellow candlelight. It is said Uriel illuminates our minds with inspiration, ideas and insights. Hmm, maybe this post should go on my angel blog. The lines are blurring. Love it!!

Bronze Portal

Bronze Portal  8x6"
Oil on canvas panel unframed
$180 + $15 sh/h in Contiguous US

My angel connections / blog and my art / art blog are inspiring one another. Three years ago I dreamed a color combo of lime green surrounded by white, surrounded by teal. I wasn't painting abstracts, so I created a still life.

Cream and Sugar 8x10" Oil on canvas.

When I began abstracts, something that emerged after simplifying my landscapes, I decided I should paint the original dream colors. I entitled the painting Inspired Dream posted below. It was exhilarating to paint! I started using the palette knife, painting wildly and energetically. Was so much fun! I was in the ZONE. Clearly a part of me or my angelic/light being guides knew I would one day be painting abstracts.

Inspired Dream  30 x 24"  Oil on canvas.
So I asked my angels for artistic inspiration to continue this series I jokingly refer to as "Rothko on steroids." I dreamed this new color combo (top image), brilliant teal surrounded by orange that darkened to a deep taupe and then dark brown around the edges. Emerald green is the color of archangel Raphael who is known as a healer, and bronze is the color of archangel Gabriel, known for inspiring artists. Woohoo. LOVE being in sync with the universe.

Wildflower Field

Wildflower Field   24x36"
Pastel on paper
NFS

I recently did  commission for my dear friend Anne Marie Palmer. Well, I say recently. I started on it many months back with this study/sketch posted last January. After she approved the sketch, I took my time with the larger piece. SO grateful she wasn't in a hurry. I delivered this to her about two months ago. Finally posting the work - unframed and with the frame she chose. Pastel is a wonderful medium. Must do more. I am open to more commissions, too! :-) Just contact me here

Fall Morning II

Fall Morning II   8x6"
Oil on archival panel / framed in gold and black frame
Framed:  $250 + $25 sh/h in Contiguous US

This is a further-abstracted version of a painting I did two years ago - posted below. This new one is smaller and has less detail. Yet all the juicy color and streamlined detail is all the info you need I think. I am loving working with bold brush strokes and sometimes just the palette knife. No palette knife here - all flats and brights. More to come!

Fall Sunset

Fall Sunset 8x6"
Oil on archival panel / unframed
$180 + $15 sh/h in Contiguous US

I have been inspired by so many artists on my path to this abstracted landscape world, which I LOVE!!!! Beginning from Matisse and Picasso to the modern works of Rothko, Hockney and Kahn. Working artists who've more recently reeled me down this abstracted path include Lisa Daria, Becky Bennett, Nancy Hartley, Sandy Ostrau and Joyce Howell. I am having a blast!!! Big or small, it's still about color, composition, movement, vitality, texture, form, temperature and a ton of play. I love the visual surprises that simply emerge, revealing unexpected magic. Let's see where this leads me. And you too, I hope. ;-)

Fruit Plate

Fruit Plate 6x8"
Oil on archival panel / framed in gold and black float frame
Framed: $250 + $20 sh/h in Contiguous US

This red pear and fruit is my favorite painting from Carol Marine's advanced workshop in Santa Fe. On the last day, she gave us tips on how to paint reflections. I brought this home and then lightened the reflections and darkened the background. Now I love it!! Here are some pics of my art buddies in the workshop. We had such fun!

Sweet Tart  8x6"
Oil on panel, framed in gold and black float frame (seen below)
$250 + $20 sh/h in Contiguous US

Another painting I created during the Carol Marine workshop I attended last month. She was demonstrating how to paint white objects on a white background. Not an easy task. I was being called to play with color so I put my white plate on this loud red background. Yes, I am a bit of a rebel. :-)
